If you're new to the Enneagram, you might read the quizzes below and a) feel overwhelmed b) know immediately what type you are c) relate to them all and d) have no clue what type you are. It's normal and all part of self discovery.

Below you'll find a short introduction of each type along with their affirmation, and a questionnaire for each of the nine types. The more statements you identify with, the more likely that type may be your dominant one. As you continue learning, your true type will become clearer, especially as you notice your patterns under stress.

A Short Introduction

Type 1 – The Reformer

Type Ones are principled, responsible, and driven to improve themselves and the world around them. Their greatest fear is being wrong, flawed, or unethical, which can lead them to be overly critical of themselves and others. Growth comes from embracing imperfection and recognizing 

Affirmation: When I let go of right and wrong, I soften into the moment and remember that I am enough. When I release control and learn to trust, life unfolds in its own beautiful way. I am inherently good, even in my imperfections and mistakes.

Type 2 – The Helper

Type Twos are caring, generous, and deeply attuned to the needs of others. Their greatest fear is being unwanted or unloved, which can lead them to neglect their own needs while seeking appreciation from others. Growth comes from learning that their value does not depend on how much they give.

Affirmation: When I fill my own cup first and set healthy boundaries, I can offer genuine love without expecting anything in return. I am cherished whether I am needed or not. I am loved for who I am.

Type 3 – The Achiever

Type Threes are ambitious, adaptable, and motivated to succeed. Their greatest fear is being seen as unsuccessful or without value, which can cause them to prioritize achievement over authenticity. Growth comes from realizing they are worthy for who they are, not just for what they accomplish.

Affirmation: I lead best when my heart is involved. I am enough by simply being my authentic self. I can slow down, breathe, and trust that I am worthy. I am a part of the whole, just like I am a wave in the ocean.

Type 4 – The Individualist

Type Fours are creative, introspective, and deeply connected to their emotions. Their greatest fear is having no personal significance or identity, which can leave them feeling different or misunderstood. Growth comes from appreciating the beauty in ordinary life and recognizing that they already belong.

Affirmation: When I let go of envy and comparison, I realize that what I’m searching for has been here all along. I remember that I belong and that it is safe to connect with others. I am you, and you are me. We are ordinary souls, beautiful in our shared humanity.

Type 5 – The Investigator

Type Fives are insightful, curious, and independent thinkers who seek knowledge and understanding. Their greatest fear is being overwhelmed, incapable, or depleted, which can lead them to withdraw from life. Growth comes from trusting their ability to engage with the world and discovering that they have enough to offer.

Affirmation: When I step into the outside world, I am safe to be myself and to share my gifts. I already have everything I need to handle life and succeed. I trust my ability to take up space and step into my power.

Type 6 – The Loyalist

Type Sixes are dependable, courageous, and committed to the people and causes they believe in. Their greatest fear is being unsupported or unprepared, which can cause them to become anxious or doubtful. Growth comes from learning to trust themselves and their inner guidance.

Affirmation: When I let go of chasing certainty, I begin to listen to my inner voice and trust its guidance. I remember that the universe has my back and offers me endless support. I can let go of worry and relax into my experience.

Type 7 – The Enthusiast

Type Sevens are optimistic, adventurous, and energized by new possibilities. Their greatest fear is being trapped in pain, deprivation, or limitation, which can lead them to avoid difficult emotions. Growth comes from discovering that true freedom comes from fully experiencing both joy and discomfort.

Affirmation: When I slow down and engage with each moment, I open my heart to a richer experience of life. When I embrace pain and make space for my sadness, I discover empathy is safe and allows me to cultivate deeper connections. The freedom I seek is found by looking within.

Type 8 – The Challenger

Type Eights are strong, protective, and confident leaders who value honesty and independence. Their greatest fear is being controlled, harmed, or vulnerable, which can make them appear intimidating or confrontational. Growth comes from recognizing that vulnerability is a strength, not a weakness.

Affirmation: I can protect the people I love and lead with strength while allowing myself to be vulnerable. It is safe to care deeply, to give and receive love, and to let others see the real me. Beneath my strength is a tender and gentle heart.

Type 9 – The Peacemaker

Type Nines are accepting, supportive, and skilled at creating harmony. Their greatest fear is conflict, disconnection, or loss of peace, which can lead them to overlook their own priorities. Growth comes from recognizing that their voice, needs, and presence matter just as much as everyone else's.

Affirmation: When I speak up, I create more peace in the world. My voice matters, and I am important. I honour my righteous anger and express my needs, desires, and opinions. In doing so, I strengthen my relationships and deepen my connection with others. True peace comes from fully showing up as myself.
